Cabin Meets The Hull

After our visit last week Anthony Hobson from Sea Otter Boats has very kindly offered to keep us updated with photographs of our boat. So here are the latest, hot off the press!

Cabin sides being lowered into place.

Looking more like a narrow boat.

Just needs a roof now...& perhaps an engine!

Please revisit regularly as I will up-date as I get new pictures.

Stage 2 continued

A few more photographs from our recent visit to the boat builders Sea Otter Boats in Staveley, Derbyshire.

This isn't even half of it!

Yes that is a VW Campervan!

Long isn't it?

Stage 2 - The Build Has Started

Sue and I visited the boat builders today and here are a few pictures showing the progress of Tempranillo. The cabin is due to be lifted into place tomorrow and we hope to post some images of that later in the day.

Plans of the Internal Layout.

The Sharp End.

This will eventually be the Stern.

Cutting out the windows.

We had to make lots of decisions today. Exactly where and which type of window should we have? Where should each internal light be placed? Where are the best places for cupboards? How do we make the best of the space for storage? What about connecting the TVs, radio, iPod etc. to the sound system? Where do we have the speakers? What about a wine rack?

We hope we have made the right choices as next time we see her all the wiring will have been installed and then we, well Sue, will be deciding on the soft furnishings and other girlie stuff!

Visit again tomorrow and we hope we can show you the hull and cabin as one.

Tomorrows Visit

Sue and I are very excited as tomorrow we will be visiting the builders of our new boat and hope to see the hull and cabin, in other words the shell of Tempranillo, looking somewhat like a narrowboat. We will need to make decisions about where to cut out the windows and where we want cupboards and lights and sound system stuff and TV and...and... etc. I will post some photographs after we get back so you can all see the current state of Tempranillo.

In the meantime we spent Sunday afloat on a beautiful Slipper Launch on the Thames at Marlow. And here is the proof!!! We had a wonderful day thanks to our neighbours and friends Bigsy and Janie. Who are also to blame for us deciding to buy a Sea Otter Narrowboat!

COME BACK SOON!
